Tomorrow morning there will be very good snow and very good skiing, but it also means going outside when the high will be 10 with windchill of -22. If I wasn’t coming off a nasty chest cold and lack of sleep it would be a no brainer.
Avy danger is orange and probably going to be worse tomorrow but most likely safe in the good spots.
2018 me wants no part of this plan to be up at 8 in ski regalia to go hiking.
2019 me might regret missing the snowtimes.
hmmm

Go ski; regret the cold later

having lived through 1st and 2nd degree frostbite skiing...this is true.

Go ski. That’s what we are doing albeit with lifts and a warm restaurant at the top of the mountain.

Don’t know if I’d even bother dragging out the cold weather gear for that yet. I might put on an extra layer long sleeve T under regular T under my flannel jacket , but would probably end up pulling the outer T off partway through the day.

That sounds awful. Stay in bed.

I sorta assumed he was speaking in Fahrenheit. Most windchill models seem to break up around 4°C actual, but that notwithstanding, it would take some hellacious winds to make a 50°F day feel like -5°F. Even 10°F dropped to a factor of -22°F is some sturdy wind, so I’d be more temped to call off going skiing just because visibility will be garbage, and at least at my local hill they’d be shutting down some of the lifts towards the top of the mountain cause they’d be moving around too much. But cold? Nah. -30°C is just called Tuesday up here.

I hear you. Visibility will probably suck in the open. I would avoid it for that more than for temp. I've ridden -20 to -30 a few times. Not my favorite, but still can be fun and way better than no visibility.
